Hepatitis B - vaccination
Hepatitis B is an infection of the liver caused by a virus that's spread through blood and body fluids. The virus can be spread in the following ways: unprotected sex, exposure to contaminated needles, accessing medical or dental care, needing emergency treatment, travelling specifically for medical treatment, or participating in contact sports. Long-term travel can also increase the risk. Symptoms more commonly occur in adults than in children and may include jaundice, loss of appetite, fever, and abdominal pain. Persistent infection may lead to liver failure or liver cancer. The vaccination (for ages 9 years and older) will help to protect individuals for up to 20–30 years. Please contact our pharmacist for more information on the number of vaccine doses required. £60 per dose
