Typhoid - vaccination
Typhoid fever is a bacterial infection that can spread throughout the body, affecting many organs. Without prompt treatment, it can cause serious complications and can be fatal. Typhoid and paratyphoid are infections acquired by ingesting food or water contaminated by the bacteria Salmonella Typhi or Salmonella Paratyphi. Symptoms include fever, headache, muscle or joint pains, constipation or diarrhoea, and a rash. Complications include intestinal bleeding and perforation (development of a hole in the wall of the bowel). The vaccination is for individuals 2 years of age and older. Please ask the pharmacist for more information.
