Cold Sore Treatment

Herpes simplex virus infection causes recurring episodes of small, painful, fluid-filled blisters on the skin, mouth, lips (cold sores), eyes, or genitals. This highly contagious viral infection is spread by direct contact with sores or, sometimes, contact with an affected area even when no sores are present. During this consultation, you will be offered appropriate symptom relief and treatment for herpes simplex virus infections affecting the lips or face (herpes labialis). Depending on individual symptoms and age (2 years and older), a pharmacist can prescribe aciclovir tablets or solution. Prices for medicines are not included in the consultation fee.
