Meningococcal (meningitis) (ACWY) - vaccination

The Meningitis ACWY vaccine provides protection against four types of bacteria that can cause meningitis: meningococcal groups A, C, W-135, and Y. Meningitis is a serious infection of the lining of the brain and spinal cord and can also cause infections of the blood. It is typically transmitted through close contact via nasal or throat droplets, such as coughing, sneezing, or kissing. This vaccine is recommended for individuals aged 2 years and over who are at risk of meningococcal diseases caused by Neisseria meningitidis groups A, C, W-135, and Y.
